Ortel is synonymous with CATV Networks. We invented the RF over fiber technology which is the foundation for the Hybrid Coax network of today’s cable industry. Beyond this ground-breaking technology, we continue to innovate with a focus on providing state-of-the-art network transport for evolving applications. For example, we pioneered the use of Predistortion technology to enable the use of fiber optics in traditional copper-based cable networks. We invented the L-EML (Linear Electrically Modulated Laser), a laser that disrupted the industry and virtually replaced DFBs in downstream transmission systems. The L-EML laser is now available for system designers offering high-performance advantages once exclusive to large system companies. Additionally, we continue to offer our linear DFBs, ultra-low noise receivers, high-performance EDFAs, and our signature Medallion series 1RU transmitters, all designed to meet today’s higher bandwidth demands.
